Equipment Works, Walthamstow, London

Client : U+I & dla architecture

A mixed-use development in Walthamstow, London, delivering 337 new homes, public realm and workspaces for small businesses.

The site was originally the home of the Associated Equipment Company, and the factory was responsible for manufacturing motorised London buses until 1927, with these prototypes going on to shape the design of the famous London Bus – the Routemaster.

Working within dla architecture, the development was named ‘Equipment Works’ and the brand was created to reflect the history of the site and we worked closely with the project team to help promote the vision of the development from an early stage. The design was then adapted to be used as a wall graphic in the public realm.
